Gardens

The extensive gardens at Aughentaine, encompassing some 12 acres, were created in the mid 1950s by Mrs John Hamilton Stubber with some initial design work from Percy Cane. She then spent the next fifty years developing and extending them with contributions in the last ten years from her daughter-in-law Caro Hamilton Stubber and Head Gardener Barbara Carleton.

They are situated on an elevated south facing site with magnificent views over the Clogher Valley in the west of County Tyrone. They range from formal terraced herbaceous borders to planted parkland, a walled kitchen garden and an attractive woodland glen which shelters a collection of specimen rhododendrons, camellias, azaleas and trees.
